Please watch Life On Mars October 18, 2008

A few caveats to my plea.  First, David Bowie is my favorite “singer” of all time.  Next, his song Life On Mars is my 2nd favorite Bowie song (behind Lady Stardust).  Finally, I am a sucker for could-be-mystical time travel shows.

Now, please watch this show. The first show was fun, fresh and stylish but it also had heart and enough of a mystery to keep me interested (as long as they don’t stretch it too thinly. A quote from Lee: "the only new show that I really like."

Here is a whack video from 1973 of Bowie singing Life On Mars, just for fun.

The Week Ahead: October 5th - 11th October 5, 2008

So happy I can kick off the week with "The Amazing Race".  Hopefully Starr Spangler (Yes!) and her brother can continue to flirt with the line between fun and annoying on their way to a $1M.  I am looking forward to the first episodes of "Valentine" and "Easy Money".  Like Jane Kaczmarek on "Raising the Bar", it will be difficult to watch Laurie Metcalf play anything substantial other than Jackie from "Roseanne" though.  "Heroes" needs to pick up steam or I will sadly have to abandon it.  A little annoyed to read around the internet that people are starting to turn off "Privileged".  I find it has a "Gilmore Girls" vibe.  Baseball interrupts some of Fox’s regular shows and causes a few shows on other networks into reruns, but still plenty of new to be seen.  "Criminal Minds" has a hostage episode with Luke Perry guest starring.  I hate hostage episodes.  "Project Runway" shows part one of its finale and I hope to fuck that Kenley is tortured, made to eat New Jersey dirt and then booted off.  Not expecting much from "Eleventh Hour" but I hope "Life on Mars" hits its mark and gets the feel of "Journeyman" + "Hill Street Blues"
